Makita’s New Cordless Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw

18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 7-1/2″ Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw (model LXSL01)

Over the last year or so we’ve seen the cordless tool offerings really focus on small 12 volt compact tools and lots of 18V impact type tools. Well this week an exciting announcement from Makita has something entirely new to consider. Makita has now introduced a cordless dual slide miter saw! The new saw is the 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Cordless 7-1/2″ Dual Slide Compound Miter Saw (model LXSL01).

The new LXSL01 weighs only 28 lbs and is designed to offer a flooring and trim carpenters a versatile, light weight miter saw capable of accurate and precise cuts.

“The new LXSL01 will cut a two-by-twelve at 90 degrees and a two-by-eight at 45 degrees, yet it weighs only 27.5 pounds making it jobsite portable which is ideal for room-to-room applications,” said Ethan Haughawout, Makita Product Manager, Cordless Tools. “This saw offers a portable and precision cutting solution to remodelers, floor contractors, cabinet installers, case and base installers, and more. And the best part is this new miter saw is one of over 40 tools that will run off the same Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion battery.”

Specifications and Features

  • Powerful Makita-built motor delivers 2,200 RPM
  • Compact design at only 27.5 lbs. for increased jobsite portability
  • Large dimensional lumber capacity: 2″ x 12″ at 90° and 2″ x 8″ at 45°
  • Four steel rail sliding system increases rigidity to produce superior accurate cuts

Compatible with Makita’s Jobsite Miter Saw Stand

The new saw is compatible with Makita’s jobsite miter saw stand (model 195083-4, sold separately). The jobsite miter saw stand adjusts to five positions with a spring-loaded mechanism for quick and easy set ups in seconds. It also includes a large platform base and material support extensions with feed roller to support long crown molding. The stand is equipped with a large rubberized handle and solid rubber 12″ wheels for easy jobsite portability.
I’m pretty excited about this new offering. Frankly it won’t be long before we see more of the larger saws making their debut in the cordless arena. As battery technology continues to advance along with dropping prices on battery systems it’s exciting to think about the possibilities. We’ll try to get our hands on a sample and report back on how well it performs.
