IBS 2011: Show Me What Ya Got!
TBB at the 2011 International Builder’s Show
Who’s going to the International Builder’s Show this week in Orlando? I’ll be joining the Tool Box Buzz team this time around, and I’m going to be on the hunt for news from suppliers regarding how they’re communicating with their customers these days, changes in the ways they take products to market and, of course, new product innovations and trends. Will this extraordinarily “green,” cordless drill be the hit of this year’s show?
This will be my ninth year visiting the mammoth residential construction showcase. In that time, I’ve seen a lot of new things. Some were great, and the show launched them on to greater glory. Some were good ideas that stalled because they were ahead of their time. Some were useful only for entertainment value and, thankfully, died on the vine. The one thing they all had in common, however, was that they grabbed attention and captured imaginations, if only for a few moments. It is these new gadgets, gizmos, widgets and “time savers” that keep us coming back to the show year after year, and I can’t wait to see the latest crop.
What will be this year’s big story from the show? Do you know about something cool, new or otherwise noteworthy I need to see? Give me a heads up. Are there companies out there making life easier for customers like you? Let me know about them. Have an idea about what new items are likely to make people stop and say, “Wow. Seriously?” I want to see those too. It’s always fun during the show to see which new ideas and advancements garner the spotlight, for better or for worse. If this year’s show is like the ones I’ve attended before, there will certainly be plenty to see.
Safe travels, everyone!

I have a feeling there is one item from Paslode that will make a MAJOR impact on the framing industry! Can’t wait to report about it later this week!
