Bosch Wallscanner D-tect™150 with Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) Radar Technology

UWB Radar Technology pinpoints material type, depth and relative width of objects with superior accuracy

07.29.2011– MOUNT PROSPECT, ILL. Bosch Measuring Tools, the world-wide leader in measuring technology, introduces the use of Ultra-Wide Band (UWB) Radar Technology with the new Bosch D-tect 150 Wall/Floor scanner. With the use of UWB Radar Technology, Bosch has created the first detector that exceeds all other conventional sensor scanners by bringing superior detection depth and accuracy to the job-site. The Bosch D-tect 150 is the only scanner in the marketplace that can display material type, depth & relative width information of ferrous and non-ferrous metal, non-metal objects (i.e. wooden studs and plastic pipes) and live AC wires in concrete, wet concrete, deep concrete, in-floor heating, drywall, metal and signal view. It can even measure up to a depth of 6” in cured concrete.

The D-tect 150 is superior to all other conventional wall scanners in the marketplace because of its accuracy and depth reading. Its patented UWB radar multi-sensor technology is ideal for finding the precise location of material located beneath the surface. The illuminated backlit LCD displays the detection depth, material type, and the center and edges of an object – giving users the ability to mark the relative width of an object. Its signal view mode helps distinguish different material through the height of the curve. In ruler view mode, the D-Tect 150 will also act as a tape measure by displaying the distance from the start of scanning while still being able to detect objects.

Calibration-free with an ergonomic handle, single button toggle operation, a four-wheel design the D-Tect150 is also easy and convenient to use. The Bosch D-tect 150 Wall/Floor Scanner has an adjustable sound indicator and a LED light that has three detection modes – green (no object detected in sensor area), red (object detected in the sensor area) and red flashing (live wire detected in the sensor area).

The D-tect 150 is an indispensable tool for concrete contractors, building inspectors, cabinet makers and installers, construction supervisors, commercial electricians, in-floor heating installers, HVAC contractors, plumbers and solar panel installers. The D-tect 150 can detect rebars before drilling or coring concrete surfaces; find rafters or joists under sheath/plywood before installing solar roof panels; find metal studs or water-filled plastic pipes before drilling drywall; or sense studs and joists prior to installing new pipes between them.

The D-Tect 150 Wall/Floor Scanner, available now, comes with a patented battery compartment that offers quick and easy battery replacement. It measures 8-3/4 in. x 3 7/8 in x 4 3/4 in. and weighs 1.5 lbs. (0.7 kg) and includes a carrying case and 4 AA 1.5V batteries.
