New Folding Utility Knives from IRWIN Tools

Folding Utility Knives with BladeLock Technology

Folding utility knives seem to be all the rage these days and the latest designs from IRWIN Tools follow suit. IRWIN introduced three new models including the FK100, FK150, and FK250. All three folding utility knives have the patented BladeLock Technology which keeps the blades locked unless the knife is opened to 45 degrees and the release button is depressed. This prevents blades from pulling free when cutting rugged materials.

“Our research shows that the utility knife is the second most important tool to a tradesman, and the biggest frustration and safety hazard on the job is when the blade comes out unexpectedly during cutting,” stated Katy Vogl, IRWIN Tools Product Marketing Manager. “So, when we set out to design a revolutionary new utility knife, we built-in the BladeLock safety feature. But we didn’t stop there,” Vogl emphasized. “These new knives are what every tradesman will want in his tool box or pocket, or on his belt clip. Whether you need the compact durability of the FK100, the built-in blade storage of the FK150, or the durability of the FK250 with fold out screwdriver, there is a knife for every tradesman.”

Options, Options, Options

IRWIN’s entry level knife (FK100) offers the BladeLock Technology along with a really comfortable,  lightweight body. A built-in wire stripper, cast finger grooves and a trigger-grip handle round out this model. The FK150 also offers BladeLock Technology along with on board blade storage, a built-in wire stripper, cast finger grooves and a trigger-grip handle. Lastly, for the tradesman who needs a superior knife then there’s the FK250. The FK250 also features BladeLock Thechnology, on board blade storage, a built-in wire stripper, cast finger grooves and a trigger-grip handle. It also offers a bit holder that holds 1″ standard fastener bits (comes with a Philips bit and a square drive bit).

IRWIN FK250 Bit Driver

I Love the bit driver included in the FK250.  I have a feeling this is an option we’ll see more of from other manufacturers as it makes complete sense. The BladeLock Technology is another great safety innovation that we can all be excited about. Now you can put as much weight/force into a cut and not worry about the damn blade pulling out. Priced at $10.99 to $15.99 these are a great value!
