Using the ONE+ 18V Ryobi Heat Gun
This heat gun is just another tool my fleet mechanics are thrilled to see. We took it into the shop and was able to heat shrink connections without the hassle of dragging out an extension cord and a corded heat gun. Thus, eliminating downtime.
The heat gun is compact so maneuverability in tight spaces is a plus. Fixing the our trailer wiring box is the first task we put it to use on. A task that is frequent in our shop. Having the P3150 on hand made it more enjoyable with not having to fumble in tight spaces with a large corded heat gun.
We found that high temperature for the P3150 is achieved a little more than the 10 seconds specified by Ryobi but that wasn’t an issue for us. The maximum temperature for the Ryobi P3150 is 875 degrees which was good enough for heat shrinking the wires. My mechanic also liked the LED work light which helped illuminate the area and wires he was working on.
Run-time
We used the P190, a 2.0Ah battery in the Heat Gun and it provided us plenty of charge and power to do the task and amount of shrink tubing wire connections. If you plan on heat shrinking more than 20 connections, I would recommend having a second battery on hand just to safe and not slow your production down.
In the Box
In addition to the One+ Heat Gun you get a concentrate nozzle (the one we used) and a deflector nozzle in the box. Each nozzle goes on and off the P3150 with ease.
Warranty
Ryobi offers a limited three (3) year warranty and a 90 day exchange policy on their power tools. More information can be found at: https://www.ryobitools.com/power-tools/support/warranties
