Inflators, the smaller cousins of air compressors, are designed mostly to inflate tires but they have a more specialized function. The idea behind tire inflators are that they are more portable than the air compressors. The large compressors usually have tanks and wheels and so on, so they are not exactly built to be thrown in the back seat of your trunk.

DEWALT 20V Corded/Cordless Inflator DCC0201

I recently received the new DEWALT 20V Corded/Cordless Inflator DCC0201. What appealed to me was the ability to be powered off a DEWALT battery and a wall or car outlet.

The battery slides into the bottom of this tool, and if you want the tool to stand on its feet, it can only fit Dewalts mid sized batteries. We tested it with the  5. ah batteries, it does not the larger Flexvolt format batteries.

The DEWALT 20V Corded/Cordless Inflator DCC0201 weighs 5.5 lbs. and be used for high pressure or high volume inflation or deflation.

DEWALT Inflator Features

This unit has a maximum pressure of 160 PSI., while most inflators inflate only to 100 PSI. Correct tire inflation is important for your smooth driving experience and car’s gas mileage.  An accurate gauge is important for inflating your tires to the desired pressure and this unit has abuilt-in digital gauge with auto-shutoff, which allows you to pre-set the unit to the required pressure.

A threaded chuck that provides a secure connection, and a LED built-into the handle provides decent illumination.

Noise

We tested the DEWALT 20V Corded/Cordless Inflator DCC0201 for decibels at ground level of the tools and recorded 80 decibels.  We tested the tool this low because you’ll probably be low to the tool,  on one knee if using this tool.

Accessories

The rubber inflator hose is durable and extend 30-inches from the unit and self-stores by wrapping around the unit housing, and the inflator / deflator plastic hose wraps / stores on the other side.

Additional accessories store directly on the on board, they include:

  • High pressure nozzle
  • Presta valve adapter
  • Inflator needle
  • High volume tapered nozzle

Cost

The DEWALT 20V Corded/Cordless Inflator DCC0201 sells as a bare tool for $99 MSRP. I envision keeping this inflator in my truck for vehicle emergencies but also for inflating wheel barrels, dollies and out tool transport wagon – yes I said wagon. It can also be used for other, non-construction needs such as, inflating tires, pool floats, camping mattresses, and sporting equipment.

  1. I noticed you said it does not fit the flexvolt batteries. Did you mean that they are too tall or that they are too wide to fit?

      Too tall

Todd, I can’t find the optional 120V adapter cord (dewalt oem n557514 power supply, 120vac). I can’t even find a picture of it on line. Can you help?

No clue…I believe this unit is made by a third party and licensed to Dewalt. Quite possible it’s not available anymore.

I had the same issue. Used the live chat at DeWalt.com and learned the adapter is part N557514. They sent a link from which it can be ordered from them. This part is out of stock until April 29, 2019.

Go to servicenet.dewalt.com, search on N557514 AC Power Supply Adapter and it comes right up. Back ordered currently until June 14th, 2019 which is only 6 days away. But it is an easy online order. (I feel it is a touch expensive but the whole unit saved me $100 right out of the box, so I can’t complain too much.)

If you purchase the cord will it charge the battery when plugged in?

  4. D.C. power cord doesn’t fit into 2020 E450 Mercedes cigarette lighter receptacles. Solution?

  5. Alexxander

I purchased this unit on 5 May 2022 and the box leads you to believe that it comes with the unit, but it was not in my box. My box was taped with clear tape, which made me think that maybe someone returned the item without the cord.
