Hitachi’s RB18DSLP4 is not designed for heavy duty outdoor work but more of a jobsite or work shop blower. It is small, compact and lightweight, allowing easy operation and eliminates gas on the jobsite.

Hitachi RB18DSLP4 First Impressions
At first glance the compact size and light weight of this tool make you wonder how the performance might compare to larger gas powered blowers. However, once I started using the Hitachi RB18DSLP4 I realized it was more powerful than I originally anticipated. This cordless blower is just the right solution for keeping my jobsite clean. While this unit is really compact, it does delivers a great volume of air for efficient clean up of jobsites or my garage workshop. The Hitachi RB18DSLP4 weighs only 3.5lbs including the 3.0Ah battery. The lightweight design allows the user to keep one hand free for moving items around while easily controlling the blower with the other hand.
Noise
The RB18DSLP4 is quite for a blower. Not having several blowers to compare it to, the noise created was not over bearing and did not require hearing protection.
Hitachi RB18DSLP4 on the Jobsite
At the end of the day I try to keep the jobsite as clean as possible. I typically spend 30-45 minutes at the end of an 8-10 hour work day cleaning and making sure we are ready for the next day. I strive to make sure my tools are cleaned and the jobsite surfaces are free from dirt or saw dust.
Recently after an entire day of ripping plywood on a portable table was caked with saw dust. I typically use my air compressor with a blow gun to clean off my table saw. The RB18DSLP4 is powerful enough to clean off my tools without the need of the compressor. One feature that I liked on this blower is the variable speed trigger which allows the user to adjust the speed based on the task.
Room for Improvement
The RB18DSLP4 has room for a few improvements. The entire blower is made of plastic with no rubber molding on the handle for ergonomics. Also the there is no trigger lock on the Hitachi RB18DSLP4. A trigger lock would be a nice feature to have.
Additional Features
Runtime
The Hitachi RB18DSLP4 has a continuous runtime of 19 minutes on a fully charged 3.0 Ah Battery. I used it for about 9 minutes continuously and did not notice a decrease in power.

RB14DSLP4 Overall Impression
If you are looking for a shop blower or an affordable solution for jobsite cleanliness then the Hitachi RB18DSLP4 is the right cordless blower for you. If you run the Hitachi 18v Lithium-Ion platform for your cordless tools why not add the cordless blower? It is light weight, compact and well balanced.
