This article is a review on the new Ryobi One+ 18V Cordless Chemical Sprayer. I have hated chemical sprayers since the first time I poured I concrete. My foreman handed me a dented and battered pump sprayer full of form oil and told me to climb in the form and get to it. That’s what he called “On-The-Job Training!”

Pump sprayers are a tool that we often struggle to get to work with us instead of against us. The cordless tool revolution has continued to make our lives easier and the Ryobi One+ 18V Cordless Chemical Sprayer is a great example of how the use of technology is making accomplishing everyday tasks easier and less fatiguing!

I had the opportunity to test out the one gallon model from Ryobi (Model #P2810) which comes as a full kit with (1) 1.3Ah 18V lithium-ion battery as well as a Dual Chemistry IntelliPort charger which is compatible with all generations of Ryobi 18V One+ batteries. You can see more details and information on this kit at the Ryobi website.

Using the Ryobi One+ 18V Sprayer

The Ryobi One+ 18V Cordless Chemical Sprayer is a very balanced and easy to use design. The 18V battery inserts perpendicular to the front of the tool, but is not overly front heavy with a filled fluid tank. The 4’ long hose that is attached to the sprayer wand is rugged and flexible and did not kink or bind during use. The sprayer control handle has a single main lever to use to activate the stream and the stream is adjustable by using the brass fitting at the end of the wand. To activate the pump, just press the single power control button on the pump body under the handle.

Standout Features of the Ryobi One+ 18V Sprayer

One of the features on the Ryobi One+ 18V Cordless Chemical Sprayer that really stood out to me during use was the ability to stow the control handle inside of the housing of the pump body. This allowed me the option to use the tool as a one piece unit for spraying on the move or to set the pump and tank assembly down and use the wand independently if I was stationary.

There is an on board measuring cup built in to the tool body that also acts as the cap for the filler spout on the chemical tank. This cap is made of translucent plastic and features graded measurement lines to make mixing diluted solutions easy. It is always in place instead of having to tear your truck or garage apart looking for a measuring cup.

Room for Improvement

There were two issues that I observed while the Ryobi One+ 18V Cordless Chemical Sprayer. The feeder tube inside of the reservoir tank is too short to reach the bottom portion of the tank. I was unable to use the full gallon of solution and about a half an inch of fluid was left in the bottom of the tank.

If left on, while not actively spraying, the pump would back-flow and begin to leak onto whatever surface the tool was set down on. I used the tool to clean a composite deck with a mixed cleaning solution and later on found several dried spots of chemical.

Intended Use/Users for the Ryobi One+ 18V Sprayer

This tool is ideal for the homeowner or DIYer who is looking for a way to make a repetitive or fatiguing task easier. This is a great option for tasks like cleaning decking or siding, spraying to remove textured ceiling coverings, or using to spray weed killer around your property. This is not intended to be a commercial unit and if you are a land owner you may find this unit to be small and underpowered.

Ryobi also offers a 2 Gallon version (Model #P2830A) as well as a 4 Gallon backpack version (Model #P2840) if you find you need a sprayer with more capability and are already invested in the Ryobi 18V battery platform.

How Much and Where To Buy

The Ryobi One+ 18V Cordless Chemical Sprayer is available now in stores and online. The complete kit is available from Home Depot for about $70.00 and $50.00 for a bare tool.

Help me. I have only had my Ryobi 18 volt sprayer one year. Approximately 1 hours total use. Just received my 3rd battery. Charged once and used once and now will not turn on. This is my second new battery and same result. One use then will not recharge.
