As a small project contractor one thing that really catches my eye is compact tools that have enough power to get the job done.  The DCF885C2 is just over 5-1/2″ in length and weighs under 3 pounds making it extremely compact. Who doesn’t love tools that are more powerful that weigh less and take up less space? One of the first things to catch my attention was the weight. When the kit arrived I really thought they only sent me the kit box and nothing else. When I opened the lid, I was truly impressed with how organized this kit was. There is a place for the driver, extra battery and the charger. All set in securely preventing them from sliding around and potentially damaging them in transition.

LED Illumination

Another feature that caught my eye was the 3 LED lights that surround the quick release chuck. Having three LED lights provides much better illumination for the task your doing. These lights virtually eliminate any shades you could have by giving you a 360 degree lit area. Another standout features regarding the lights is they are on a delay of 20 seconds giving you time to make sure you have fastened whatever you are doing correctly. In a pinch you can use this as a flashlight! You can say it was love at first light…

Bang For Your Buck

Having the kit come with 2 batteries and a 30 minute charger allows you to work more efficiently and reduces down time immensely. Being able to work while the spare battery charges, gets more work done and saves a lot of wasted time allowing batteries to charge. Time is money and time saved is money earned. Speaking of money, one thing that might deter people from buying the yellow and black tools is the cost. Traditionally DEWALT is high priced because you are getting an inferior tool, but the DCF885C2 is absolutely competitively priced. A 20V Impact Driver, (2) 1.5 amp hr batteries, 30 minute charger, and a blow molded carrying case for 199.99 is an exceptional deal!

Quick Bit Set

Another awesome design that DEWALT added to this impact driver is the quick bit set. You can now just push the bit into the chuck instead of using the other hand to pull back the chuck to secure your bit. With the option of taking a standard 1″ bit, you can access even tighter spots now.

One and Only Gripe

One thing I wish DEWALT would do is put the battery power indicator on the 1.5 amp hour. Even though we have all used batteries with out this new technology, once you use it, you want to have it on all your batteries!!
